Are nearby obstructions causing your outdoor unit to work harder than it should?

Air Diverters (or Air Deflectors) redirect airflow from outdoor AC units upward at a 45° angle – reducing recirculation, wear, and improving performance year-round.

IMPROVE PERFORMANCE – Stops airflow from bouncing off nearby obstructions and recirculating, which can affect unit performance in extreme weather and prolong your unit from reaching ideal indoor temperatures.

PROTECT GARDENS – Shields plants from heat emitted by outdoor units.

IMPROVE COMFORT – Directs hot air away from balconies or entertaining areas.

QUICK INSTALL – No complex installation! Simply add the magnetic fixings and place diverter on the outdoor unit.

The air diverters are a lifesaver for a large outdoor aircon that was struggling in the heat for being to close to a tall fence. The house is noticeably cooler on hot days now.

Great product. Reasonable price, quick service and simple to assemble and install. The hot air is now nicely deflected away and does not recirculate on the condenser.

I’m very happy with the air diverter and would recommend it to whoever is thinking about buying it . Wish I had of known about this earlier.

Which Size Air Diverter Should I Purchase?

Before purchasing an air diverter, measure your outdoor unit’s grille(s). Using the diagram, measure:

  • A = grille height

  • B = grille width

  • C = gap between grilles (for dual‑fan units)

Each magnetic fixing is 16 mm wide and can be fitted on the inside or outside of the grille. Subtract 16 mm from the usable grille width for every magnet placed inside. For example:

  • Both magnets inside: subtract 32 mm from the diverter width

  • One inside, one outside: subtract 16 mm from the diverter width

  • Both outside: usable width = full diverter width

A slightly shorter diverter height is acceptable — the lower blades will still catch airflow and direct it upward. If you need two diverters for a dual‑fan unit, make sure (diverter height 1 + C + diverter height 2) does not exceed the unit’s total height.

Note: check for any beveled edges or obstructions next to the grille when deciding magnet placement.

FAQs

There is no difference. We refer to both on the website because the term is used interchangeably in the industry.

Air diverters may improve performance when outdoor units are located close to boundary fences/walls or other obstructions. When this is the case, hot air in summer can recirculate, increasing the ambient temperature around the outdoor unit and causing the unit to worker harder. Similarly, in winter, the circulating cold air can prevent the unit from moving out of defrost mode and delay the unit heating time indoors.

Our air diverters deflect the air away at a fixed 45 degree angle.

Highly durable plastic meant to withstand Australian climate conditions.

If you have a dual fan unit, you will need to purchase two air diverters, one for each fan.

Our air diverters are designed to accommodate multiple brands and grille sizes, however there is no one-size-fits-all diverter, and we have different diverter sizes available. Please measure the grilles on the outdoor unit to find the right size. On occasion, customisation may be required if units have beveled edges or unusual grille sizes. If concerned, please email us your grille dimensions so that we can assist you in making the correct purchase.

No, the product is designed for an easy installation. If you have any concerns, we are happy to guide you through the installation process, or you can view our installation video above, for a step-by-step guide.

Assembled diverters are prebuilt, and only require you to adjust the preinstalled magnets, if necessary. The magnets come fitted on the inside of the diverter, but can be adjusted to sit on the outside or alternative sides, depending on what application is suitable for your unit.

Disassembled diverters come flat-packed, and require assembly (approx 10min with an electric screwdriver), but they are more cost effective and cheaper to ship.

Air diverters can be used for ducted and split system outdoor units. They are also commonly used on pool heat pumps.

Please allow 3-10 business days for delivery. This estimate is dependent on whether your shipping address falls in a metro or country area. Most air diverter orders arrive within 5 business days.
